Last week on Thursday I went to a lecture by Claire Kitson.
She used to work for Channel Four, when they used to give lots of funding to experimental animation projects. She was mainly here to try and sell copies of her books, but she spoke about the direction in which she felt the animation industry was heading. I thought it was quite depressing, as she basically said that now Channel 4 is not so keen on animation that it is very hard to find funding for animation projects. I think that there will always be a place for animation though, even if it’s just in TV and internet advertising.
There is a website run by Channel 4 and Aardman called 4mations, where you can watch animations, which I think is a good idea. I will add the link to that to my ‘Interesting Websites’ list at the top.
